Senior OT Cybersecurity & Network Engineer/Technologist
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior OT Cybersecurity & Network Engineer to join their growing team in Calgary, AB. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in industrial OT environments, network design, and cybersecurity. You’ll work alongside a team of highly skilled engineers and technologists to deliver world-class electrical, instrumentation, and controls projects.
Responsibilities:
Lead a team of OT network engineers and technologists to achieve project goals while collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Prepare conceptual engineering solutions, including scope of work, cost estimates, and implementation planning.
Oversee the design and implementation of industrial OT networks, ensuring adherence to ICS standards and best practices.
Supervise the maintenance and setup of PCN networks, switches, servers, and firewalls, ensuring reliability and compliance.
Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, including vendor-approved antivirus and Windows patch management.
Lead the response to cybersecurity incidents, prioritizing plant operations and minimizing downtime.
Monitor third-party security feeds and forums to identify vulnerabilities and create actionable intelligence reports.
Ensure database backups, disaster recovery testing, and redundancy for all critical network devices.
Develop and implement OT cybersecurity standards and incident response plans across multiple systems.
Conduct health assessments and security audits for industrial facilities.
Design, implement, and commission ICS systems as integral components of process control systems.
Mentor and develop intermediate and junior staff, overseeing performance, deliverables, and career growth.
Support corporate policy frameworks, engineering processes, and recruiting initiatives in collaboration with senior management.
Promote alignment with InnoTech’s mission and vision, emphasizing collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
Ensure compliance with all HS&E requirements and company policies.
Requirements
A technical diploma or university degree in a relevant discipline is required.
Registered as a Professional (P.Eng., P.L. (Eng.), P.Tech.(Eng.)) with APEGA or ASET.0+ years of experience with ICS in a design role is required.
8+ years supporting cybersecurity and network assets in an industrial operating facility.
8+ years of experience managing virtualized servers and workstations, enterprise server hardware, and firewalls; network management and monitoring (e.g., SolarWinds); system backup and restore.
8+ years of experience implementing ICS cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82).
5+ years of experience working with PLC or DCS systems for industrial facilities is required. The ability to develop new programs as well as make online and offline updates is required.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with and developing Shutdown Keys, Cause & Effect diagrams, and Control Narratives.
Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, pulp and paper, or electrical power systems is required.
Experience in delivering high-quality customer service to a broad range of customers.
Collaboration and strong communication skills with the ability to build functional relationships with all stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is essential.
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and Teams).
Willingness to travel – travel to customer sites will be required (approximately 10%).
Class 5 driver’s license.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
