Intermediate OT Network Engineer/Technologist

They are currently seeking an Intermediate OT Network Engineer/Technologist with a strong foundation in industrial OT environments and intermediate to advanced experience in network design and cybersecurity. This role is ideal for a technically driven professional who thrives in a hands-on, project-based setting and values continuous learning and teamwork.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
Prepare conceptual engineering solutions, including scopes of work, cost estimates, and implementation plans.
Design and implement industrial OT networks in accordance with ICS standards and best practices.
Support the setup and maintenance of process control networks, switches, servers, and firewalls.
Apply vendor-approved anti-virus updates and Windows patches regularly.
Provide rapid response and resolution to cybersecurity or network incidents to minimize operational impact.
Monitor security feeds and advisories, identifying and communicating relevant vulnerabilities or risks.
Maintain database backups and test disaster recovery procedures as part of risk management.
Support the development and implementation of OT cybersecurity standards and incident response plans.
Ensure redundancy and stability across critical network devices.
Conduct health assessments and security audits to identify risks and areas for improvement.
Design, implement, and commission PLC systems as part of integrated control system projects.
Develop and review control documentation, including Shutdown Keys, Cause & Effect diagrams, and Control Narratives.
Support long-term DCS/PLC upgrade and maintenance planning.
Participate in site visits, commissioning, and control system testing.
Provide technical guidance to junior team members and oversee deliverable progress.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements in daily operations.
Requirements
Diploma or degree in a relevant engineering or technology discipline.
Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, pulp & paper, or power systems industries required.
Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA (EIT, P.Eng., or P.L. (Eng.)) or ASET (C.E.T. or P.Tech. (Eng.)).
Minimum 5 years of ICS design experience and 3+ years supporting cybersecurity and network assets in industrial settings.
Experience with virtualized environments, enterprise servers, firewalls, and network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
Working knowledge of ICS cybersecurity standards such as IEC 62443 or NIST SP 800-82.
Background in PLC programming, Shutdown Keys, Cause & Effect diagrams, and Control Narratives is an asset.
Demonstrated commitment to accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams).
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to client sites.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and legal eligibility to work in Canada.
