Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support the delivery of complex industrial water and wastewater treatment projects. This role will work on multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions across water, waste, and energy sectors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in process design, technical leadership, and project execution, particularly in projects related to hard-rock mining water management, industrial water treatment, and environmental discharge systems. Location: Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB

Responsibilities:

  • Process Engineering & Design

    • Lead and contribute to conceptual, feasibility, preliminary, and detailed engineering for complex industrial water and wastewater treatment projects.

    • Develop process engineering designs from concept through detailed design, focusing on mining water management, treatment, reuse, and environmental discharge systems.

    • Prepare and review technical deliverables, including:

      • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)

      • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

      • Heat and Material Balances

      • Design Basis documents

      • Equipment layouts and system simulations

      • Control narratives and cause & effect matrices

      • Hydraulic analysis and equipment sizing

    • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and engineering documentation.

    Technical Leadership

    • Lead multidisciplinary teams on projects of varying size and complexity.

    • Conduct or participate in design reviews, risk reviews, HAZOP studies, model reviews, and inter-discipline coordination.

    • Perform technical bid evaluations and vendor package approvals.

    • Oversee water quality data characterization and technical analysis.

    Project Delivery & Implementation

    • Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements and environmental standards related to water treatment and discharge.

    • Apply relevant engineering standards, including API, ASME, CSA, and other industry codes.

    • Support or oversee fabrication, construction, and commissioning of water treatment systems as required.

    Client & Business Development Support

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and technology suppliers.

    • Support proposal development in sole-source and competitive bid environments.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities and contribute to project pursuits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university.

  • 10+ years of process engineering experience, preferably in industrial water treatment, mining, or related process industries.

  • Professional Engineering designation with APEGA, EGBC, or another Canadian jurisdiction (in good standing).

  • Licensure in additional North American jurisdictions is considered an asset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing technical reports and engineering documentation.

  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing technical teams and multidisciplinary project groups.

  • Business development experience and existing industry relationships across North America are considered assets.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
