Job Description

Our client is an Alberta-based upstream oilfield services organization providing critical field-based services to exploration and production operators. They are now seeking a hands-on Manager, Finance & IT Systems to lead day-to-day financial operations while owning the company’s financial and operational technology ecosystem.

This is an execution-focused leadership role responsible for accurate financial reporting, disciplined job costing, timely billing, and reliable IT systems that support field crews and office operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead monthly and year-end close processes in QuickBooks Online, ensuring accurate financial statements, KPI reporting, and variance analysis.

  • Maintain full integrity of the general ledger, AR/AP, payroll integration, fixed assets, and CRA/GST compliance.

  • Oversee job costing and margin management in Aimsio, ensuring accurate capture of labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs.

  • Monitor performance by job, crew, and service line; investigate variances and support pricing, cost recovery, and efficiency initiatives.

  • Manage upstream billing structures and oversee invoicing, AR collections, and cash flow performance.

  • Coordinate annual budgets, rolling forecasts, working capital management, and capital expenditure planning, including fleet ROI analysis.

  • Own and optimize financial and operational systems (QBO, Aimsio, DEXT, ApprovalMax), including integrations, configurations, and reporting enhancements.

  • Ensure strong internal controls, approval workflows, audit readiness, and disciplined expense management.

  • Oversee IT operations in partnership with managed service providers, ensuring system reliability, cybersecurity, and business continuity.

  • Lead finance and administrative staff while partnering cross-functionally with operations to provide actionable financial insight.

Requirements

  • CPA designation (or significant progress toward CPA).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

  • 5–10 years of progressive finance/accounting experience.

  • Direct experience in upstream oilfield services, industrial services, or rental-based operations.

  • Software knowledge and experience with Aimsio, QuickBooks Online (QBO), DEXT, ApprovalMax or similar system software experience.

  • Strong understanding of job costing, utilization-driven revenue models, and service billing structures.

  • Background in equipment-heavy or fleet-based operations is a strong asset.

  • Prior leadership experience is a strong asset.

  • Exposure to BI tools or advanced reporting environments is a strong asset.
