Municipal Infrastructure Lead(P.Eng)
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Municipal Infrastructure Lead to play a critical role in expanding their presence in the Calgary market while delivering high-quality civil engineering solutions for public sector clients within Calgary, AB.
This is a senior, client-facing leadership position responsible for driving business development, leading multidisciplinary project delivery, and strengthening long-term client relationships. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in civil engineering, paired with commercial acumen and the ability to lead teams and pursuits in a competitive consulting environment.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
Provide technical expertise across transportation/roadworks, water management, or utilities infrastructure, with depth in at least one discipline
Lead projects through the full lifecycle: site investigation, conceptual and detailed design, tendering, and construction administration
Ensure designs meet municipal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, electrical, environmental, geotechnical, and survey
Manage project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk
Discipline-Specific Expertise (one or more of the following):
Transportation & Roadworks: new construction, rehabilitation, intersections, interchanges, streetscapes, traffic calming, active transportation
Water Management: watershed planning, water quality, low impact development, conservation/re-use, climate resilience
Utilities Infrastructure: hydraulic modelling (WaterCAD, PCSWMM, Mike Urban), servicing strategies, master planning, flow monitoring, I&I analysis, emergency planning, cost estimating
Business Development & Client Leadership
Drive growth by identifying and pursuing new opportunities within the municipal sector
Build and maintain strong client relationships across municipalities and public agencies
Lead proposal development, including win strategies and technical content
Collaborate with senior leadership on market intelligence and growth strategy
Establish strategic partnerships to pursue larger, more complex projects
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff
Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Provide technical guidance and oversight across project teams
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Master’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (asset)
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required
10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience working with municipal or public sector clients
Minimum 5 years in a project management and/or client-facing business development role
PMP designation (asset)
Proven success in winning work and growing client relationships within a consulting environment
Strong commercial acumen, including fee structures, contracts, and project financials
Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Deltek Ajera/Vision/Vantagepoint, or similar)
Excellent communication skills, including proposal writing and technical reporting
