Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the people strategy and execution across a multi-business unit oilfield services organization operating throughout Canada and the United States.

This is a high-impact leadership role supporting four distinct business units in a field-driven, safety-sensitive environment. You will partner closely with executive and operational leaders to align HR practices with business objectives, while driving consistency, compliance, and employee experience across regions.

Responsibilities:

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the HR function across multiple business units, ensuring alignment in policies, processes, and employee experience.

  • Partner with executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning.

  • Lead and develop a small HR team, setting priorities and driving performance.

Talent Management & Employee Experience

  • Oversee full-cycle talent management, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention strategies.

  • Support both field-based and corporate teams in a dynamic operational environment.

  • Drive employee engagement and support a strong, safety-first culture.

Compliance & Employee Relations

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. employment laws, including multi-state and multi-provincial requirements.

  • Lead employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.

  • Support audits and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Compensation, Systems & Analytics

  • Lead compensation and benefits strategy, including market benchmarking within oilfield services.

  • Implement and optimize HR systems, reporting, and analytics to support data-driven decisions.

Change Management & Growth

  • Lead HR initiatives tied to organizational growth, restructuring, and cross-border integration.

  • Support evolving business needs in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; CPHR, SHRM, or equivalent designation preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within oilfield services, energy, or industrial sectors.

  • Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-business unit organizations across Canada and the U.S.

  • Strong knowledge of cross-border employment legislation and compliance.

  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing HR teams.

  • Experience in field-based, operational environments with a strong safety focus.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to execute in a hands-on, fast-paced setting.

  • Practical, hands-on leader with strong business acumen.

  • Comfortable operating in decentralized, entrepreneurial environments.

  • High level of judgment, discretion, and resilience.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make decisions in complex situations.
