Financial Accountant
Job Description
Our client is looking for an experienced and meticulous Financial Accountant to join their corporate headquarters team in Calgary, Alberta. This vibrant and ever growing multi-entity organization operates within the construction and manufacturing sectors. The perfect candidate will have robust full-cycle accounting expertise, proficiency in MS Excel, month end accounting experience, management, and a proactive approach to independently refining and enhancing existing processes. The candidate will must have experience within the construction and manufacturing industry
Responsibilities:
Complete assigned month, quarter, and year end close processes, including preparation of working papers, posting of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
Interpret and apply knowledge of accounting standards to ensure appropriate accounting treatments applied to various transactions.
Perform cost accounting activities, including analyzing production costs, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
Oversee and reconcile inter company transactions and balances, ensuring accurate consolidation and elimination entries.
Support the annual audit cycle including year-end working papers and journal entries.
Collaborate with various departments, including operations, manufacturing, project management, and procurement, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Support financial analysis within reporting including supporting variance and trend analysis
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
4+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within manufacturing, construction or a similar operational accounting environment.
Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting including working papers and journal entries.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and inventory management concepts.
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience with accounting software, MS Dynamics is considered asset.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting, with a focus on achieving collective goals.
