Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced and meticulous Financial Accountant to join their corporate headquarters team in Calgary, Alberta. This vibrant and ever growing multi-entity organization operates within the construction and manufacturing sectors. The perfect candidate will have robust full-cycle accounting expertise, proficiency in MS Excel, month end accounting experience, management, and a proactive approach to independently refining and enhancing existing processes. The candidate will must have experience within the construction and manufacturing industry

Responsibilities:

  • Complete assigned month, quarter, and year end close processes, including preparation of working papers, posting of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

  • Interpret and apply knowledge of accounting standards to ensure appropriate accounting treatments applied to various transactions.

  • Perform cost accounting activities, including analyzing production costs, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.

  • Oversee and reconcile inter company transactions and balances, ensuring accurate consolidation and elimination entries.

  • Support the annual audit cycle including year-end working papers and journal entries.

  • Collaborate with various departments, including operations, manufacturing, project management, and procurement, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

  • Support financial analysis within reporting including supporting variance and trend analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 4+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within manufacturing, construction or a similar operational accounting environment.

  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting including working papers and journal entries.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and inventory management concepts.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience with accounting software, MS Dynamics is considered asset.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting, with a focus on achieving collective goals.
