Financial Reporting Analyst

Job Description

The Financial Reporting Analyst will be joining a dynamic, entrepreneurial team in the Power/Energy Industry; this position is based in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the candidate will join a team committed to technical excellence, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys financial reporting, is detail-oriented, excels in understanding data and process flows, and is eager to share their knowledge and expertise with others. This position is a hybrid-work environment with a compensation range of $88,000 to $95,000.

Responsibilities:

  • Support all accounting operations – including month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare and review financial information, journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules pursuant to IFRS with a keen eye for detail.

  • Follow-up on resolving account discrepancies proactively.

  • Support with cash management and forecasting.

  • Coverage of receivable and payable functions as needed.

  • Verifying account coding and mapping.

  • Enhance monthly internal reporting and checking.

  • Acting as a team resource to investigate and resolve accounting questions and issues considering IFRS principal and internal controls.

  • Support the design, implementation and testing of new reports, systems or system updates as needed.

  • Ensure billing and reconciliation completeness and accuracy requiring understanding of underlying trade data.

  • Provide support to the tax, budget and forecasting processes.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of related experience, with prior audit experience (preferred) or accounting supervisory experience.

  • Qualified CPA or equivalent.

  • Extreme attention to detail.

  • High standards of performance, a strong desire to learn, and a self-starter.

  • Proven experience understanding and interpreting large volumes of financial and non-financial data.

  • Strong understanding of accounting systems (SAP preferred), billing systems, and non-financial systems.

  • Proficiency with reading, interpreting and applying accounting standards (IFRS or US GAAP)

  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) complex ideas and thoughts in an organized manner.
