Senior Electrical Engineer – Montreal, QC

Job Description

Catch Recruitment is partnering with a leading organization on a major infrastructure initiative in Quebec and is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the project team. This is a high-impact, full-time role supporting early-stage development through to execution on one of the region’s most significant industrial projects.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced electrical engineer with expertise in high-voltage systems and a strong grasp of power infrastructure design, regulatory standards, and cross-disciplinary project coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the project through early-stage development, FEED, detailed design, and execution.

  • Lead engineering efforts within a multi-disciplinary team and ensure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.

  • Provide oversight and technical guidance for studies and designs related to HV transmission, transformers, and rectifiers.

  • Review and validate the work of external engineering partners to ensure alignment with project specifications and standards.

  • Act as the subject matter expert during all project phases, from design to implementation and commissioning.

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, including regulatory bodies and municipal groups.

  • Identify and resolve engineering challenges proactively to keep project milestones on track.

  • Ensure all work complies with applicable standards and codes, including CSA, IEEE, and the Electrical Canadian Code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in HV electrical engineering, preferably on large infrastructure or industrial projects.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the OIQ, or eligible for registration in Quebec.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical standards such as IEEE, CSA, and the Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1).

  • Direct experience with HV systems, transformers, and rectifiers is essential.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive mindset.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is required.
