Senior Electrical Engineer – Montreal, QC
Job Description
Catch Recruitment is partnering with a leading organization on a major infrastructure initiative in Quebec and is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the project team. This is a high-impact, full-time role supporting early-stage development through to execution on one of the region’s most significant industrial projects.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced electrical engineer with expertise in high-voltage systems and a strong grasp of power infrastructure design, regulatory standards, and cross-disciplinary project coordination.
Responsibilities:
Support the project through early-stage development, FEED, detailed design, and execution.
Lead engineering efforts within a multi-disciplinary team and ensure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.
Provide oversight and technical guidance for studies and designs related to HV transmission, transformers, and rectifiers.
Review and validate the work of external engineering partners to ensure alignment with project specifications and standards.
Act as the subject matter expert during all project phases, from design to implementation and commissioning.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, including regulatory bodies and municipal groups.
Identify and resolve engineering challenges proactively to keep project milestones on track.
Ensure all work complies with applicable standards and codes, including CSA, IEEE, and the Electrical Canadian Code.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of experience in HV electrical engineering, preferably on large infrastructure or industrial projects.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the OIQ, or eligible for registration in Quebec.
Strong knowledge of electrical standards such as IEEE, CSA, and the Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1).
Direct experience with HV systems, transformers, and rectifiers is essential.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive mindset.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is required.
