Chemical Process Engineer - Montreal, QC

Catch Recruitment is partnering with a major client in the green energy sector to hire a Chemical Process Engineer for a landmark infrastructure project in Quebec. This is a full-time opportunity to play a critical role in the early development and execution of a large-scale industrial initiative focused on sustainability and innovation.

Working closely with the Project Director, external engineering consultants, government stakeholders, and cross-functional project teams, the Process Engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the lifecycle of the project—from early-stage design to commissioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead process engineering efforts during FEED, detailed engineering, and execution phases.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure process designs align with project goals and technical standards.

  • Design, configure, and optimize industrial processes for high-efficiency and performance.

  • Review and validate process design deliverables from external engineering firms.

  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing input on process modeling, controls, and plant design.

  • Participate in technical reviews, HAZOPs, and startup planning.

  • Support commissioning and startup efforts with hands-on engineering input.

  • Ensure alignment between process design and operational, business, and environmental goals.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and optimization techniques, particularly within green energy applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process or Chemical Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience in process engineering within oil & gas, refining, or related industrial sectors.

  • P.Eng. designation and registration (or eligibility) with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

  • Familiarity with equipment and processes used in green hydrogen or ammonia production is a strong asset.

  • Proficiency with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, or similar).

  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and process control systems.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

  • Clear and professional communication skills, including stakeholder interaction.

  • French language skills (verbal and written) are considered an asset.
