Senior Procurement Manager – Montreal, QC

Job Description

Catch Recruitment is working with a leading organization in the green energy sector to identify a Senior Procurement Manager for a high-profile infrastructure initiative in Quebec. This full-time leadership role will oversee strategic procurement planning, execution, and supplier management for a multi-billion-dollar renewable energy project—one of the largest of its kind in the region.

Our client is looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in procurement for large-scale capital projects, ideally in sectors like oil & gas, mining, or chemicals. The successful candidate will bring both operational excellence and a sustainability-driven mindset to help deliver this transformative initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end procurement process for critical materials, equipment, and services—supporting major infrastructure and energy development timelines.

  • Develop and manage procurement strategies aligned with overall project goals, budgets, and milestones.

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure procured items meet all technical requirements and design standards.

  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with local and global suppliers, maintaining performance standards and ESG alignment.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, contract law, and trade policies across international jurisdictions.

  • Identify procurement risks and cost drivers, implementing proactive mitigation plans and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Lead tendering activities (RFx), oversee bid evaluations, and support commercial decision-making.

  • Track procurement budgets, monitor spending, and evaluate supplier financial health and performance.

  • Leverage ERP and procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Ariba) to analyze data, generate insights, and deliver reporting to leadership.

  • Promote sustainable and responsible sourcing practices throughout all procurement activity.

  • Serve as a liaison between key departments—legal, finance, engineering, and external vendors. Communicate effectively in both English and French.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • 10–15 years of experience in procurement roles within capital-intensive industries.

  • At least 5 years of procurement leadership experience on large-scale ($500M+) infrastructure or energy projects.

  • Strong knowledge of procurement law, international trade regulations, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Deep understanding of technical specifications related to industrial chemical processes and equipment.

  • Experience with green energy or sustainability-driven procurement is a strong asset.

  • PMP or specialized training in project procurement is a plus.

  • Skilled in budget planning, supplier analysis, and ROI-focused decision-making.

  • Advanced proficiency in ERP/procurement platforms (SAP, Oracle, Ariba) and reporting tools.

  • Fully bilingual (French/English) with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
