Instrumentation Manager
Job Description
Our client is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector, providing full-service expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement.
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Manager in Grande Prairie, Alberta, to oversee day-to-day operations and projects within the Instrumentation Department—ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.
The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a focus on team development—working collaboratively with other department managers to deliver exceptional results for clients while maintaining operational excellence and promoting a culture of safety and growth.
Responsibilities:
Department Leadership & Operations
Oversee the daily activities of the Instrumentation Department, ensuring all projects have the necessary skills, manpower, and resources to meet client expectations.
Monitor productivity, costs, and scheduling to maintain efficiency and meet budgetary requirements.
Collaborate with Electrical and Automation Managers to allocate personnel and ensure cross-functional job success.
Support and mentor Instrumentation Technicians and Apprentices to build a capable, high-performing team.
Conduct site visits regularly to assess project progress and ensure quality control.
Project & Financial Oversight
Review and monitor project expenses, ensuring compliance with budget and cost targets.
Partner with the Estimating team to develop accurate project budgets, including direct and indirect costs.
Identify areas for process improvement and operational growth in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
Provide technical expertise and recommendations regarding design, operations, and installation.
People & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with employees, management, and customers.
Lead performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and respect within the department.
Serve as the main point of contact for Instrumentation maintenance and construction projects.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Promote and uphold the company’s Health & Safety standards and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
Lead and participate in monthly safety meetings and ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
Support a proactive safety culture across all job sites and teams.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance operational performance and team growth.
Identify training and development opportunities to strengthen technical and leadership skills across the team.
Requirements
Journeyman Instrumentation Technician certification (required).
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to handle complex situations and maintain composure under pressure.
Up-to-date and relevant safety certifications.
