Purchasing Agent

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join their growing team in Fort St. John, BC. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Purchasing Agent will oversee the full procurement cycle for materials used in both maintenance and construction projects across the E&I and Automation Divisions. This position collaborates closely with Project Managers and Site Superintendents to ensure materials are purchased efficiently, on time, and within project budgets.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive compensation package and may also be eligible for a retention bonus and/or relocation assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage purchase orders from initiation to completion, ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures

  • Coordinate deliveries, input parts into the system, and maintain clean, accurate data

  • Research pricing, availability, and sourcing options; manage backorders and communication

  • Assist with picking orders, receiving shipments, and offloading freight as needed

  • Coordinate transportation and loading of materials

  • Identify and pursue cost-saving opportunities; support inventory control

  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams

  • Participate in safety initiatives and meetings; support shipping/receiving as required

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities

  • Effective communicator with strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Willingness to participate in an on-call schedule

Salary Range: $55,000 to $62,000 annually
