Shop Technician
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Shop Technician to join their team in Edmonton. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual with experience in a manufacturing or production environment. The Shop Technician will be responsible for executing project tasks, operating various types of machinery, and ensuring all work is completed to quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Complete assigned tasks according to the production schedule
Adhere to manufacturer and company standards and specifications
Ensure timely completion of work orders
Comply with all company quality control procedures
Operate various shop machinery and tools as required
Maintain a strong commitment to personal and team safety
Follow safety protocols and fulfill responsibilities outlined in the health and safety program and relevant legislation
Participate in safety discussions and communicate health and safety observations
Notify the Health & Safety department of any inspections, incidents, or concerns
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing setting
Strong mechanical aptitude
Experience with rotating equipment is an asset
Basic welding skills and familiarity with machinery operation are strong assets
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in basic math with excellent attention to detail
Reliable, proactive, and capable of working under tight deadlines
Willingness to stay current on changes in technology and compliance standards
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Journeyman certification in Mechanics, Millwrighting, or Machining
Forklift Operator Certification
Overhead Crane Certification
WHMIS Certification
Manual dexterity required for computer use
Occasional overtime may be required
Light lifting (up to 10 lbs.)
Local travel may be required
Ability to participate in and conduct presentations as needed
