Senior Cost Controller -Montreal, QC
Job Description
Catch Recruitment is supporting the search for a Senior Cost Controller to join a major project in Montreal, Quebec. This is a key permanent role within a growing project management team and will be especially vital during the early phases of development.
Reporting to the Project Director, you’ll collaborate closely with external design and engineering partners, local government stakeholders, and internal teams to provide financial oversight and support across the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage detailed project budgets, ensuring costs are accurately tracked and reported.
Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Prepare and present financial reports and variance analyses to stakeholders.
Contribute to defining project scope and deliverables with an eye on cost control and safety.
Provide accurate cost forecasting to support project planning and decision-making.
Ensure compliance with financial policies and industry regulations.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project drivers and timelines.
Identify and mitigate financial risks tied to the project.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
10–15 years of experience in senior-level cost control roles supporting large-scale projects in Canada—ideally in the mining, oil & gas, or chemical sectors.
Certifications such as CCP, EVM, PMP, or CAPM from AACE, PMI, or PCI are considered strong assets.
Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cost systems, and progress tracking.
Experience with scheduling or construction management software is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word).
Fluency in French is a strong asset, both written and spoken.
