Senior Tax Manager
Job Description
Our client, a mid-sized public practice firm in Canada, is seeking a Senior Manager, Tax to join their growing tax practice. This role is ideal for an energetic and experienced professional who leads by example, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys working with private, owner-managed businesses. The successful candidate will manage complex tax engagements and support clients in navigating tax risks related to sophisticated business transactions.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Tax Partner and oversee senior tax consultants on a variety of tax consulting assignments
Manage multiple tax files, including planning, preparation, and analysis of corporate and personal provincial and federal tax returns
Advise clients on managing tax risks and obligations related to complex transactions
Prepare federal and provincial tax filings for corporations, individuals, trusts, partnerships, real estate, and exempt organizations
Contribute to internal memoranda, client correspondence, and CRA submissions such as private letter rulings and technical responses
Communicate effectively with clients, partners, and internal staff
Requirements
CPA designation required
Post-designation experience within a public practice tax group
Completion of, or active enrollment in, the In-Depth Tax Course (or a strong desire to enroll)
Strong ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple assignments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional, reliable, and solutions-oriented with a strong work ethic
Team player with a collaborative approach
Entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to exceeding client expectations
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Expertise in Domestic Tax (Preferred Areas):
Corporate Tax
Reorganizations
Partnerships and Trusts
Personal Tax
GST/HST
Reviewing corporate tax returns
Openness to learning additional areas of taxation
