Construction Manager
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Construction Manager to lead and oversee multiple projects ensuring safety, budget, quality, schedule, and profitability. The individual will manage personnel, build industry relationships, and drive business opportunities. They will engage in company initiatives, project pursuits, pre-construction, and industry leadership activities.

Responsibilities:
Provides overall leadership and oversight for complex institutional, construction projects, including commercial renovations, expansions, and new builds, ensuring alignment with safety, budget, quality, schedule, and profitability goals.
Develop and manage project schedules, adjusting plans as needed while coordinating with subcontractors to address challenges related to labour, material delivery, and payments.
Responsible for direct supervision of entire project team; based on contract requirements and project size, leads a team of 10+ direct and indirect reports, which may include a combination of students/interns, project coordinators, project superintendents and/or project managers.
Leads pre-construction efforts by collaborating on estimates, proposals, and presentations to secure new municipal projects.
Ensures alignment with regulatory and contractual obligations, including municipal, state/provincial, and federal requirements.
Manages contract administration, including negotiation of terms, revisions, and compliance with legal, regulatory, and project-specific requirements across all stakeholders.
Oversees project health and safety planning, ensuring compliance with regulations and reviewing safety records for accuracy and enforcement.
Implements quality assurance and control measures throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with specifications and conducting final deliverable reviews before client signoff.
Effectively manages all facets of project close-out, including final deficiency completion, client walk-through, after sales service, and O&M manual completion.
Tracks and manages project costs to budget, conducts cost-to-complete projections, prepares monthly profit estimates, and implements corrective actions as neede
Ensure all project tracking tools and logs (RFI, Change Order, Subcontract, Shop Drawings, etc) are maintained and current.
Requirements
Post-secondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
P. Eng, CET, PMP or Gold Seal certification preferred.
20+ years of experience in various forms of commercial construction, including industrial buildings, office, retail, institutional, multi-family residential, etc.
Comprehensive knowledge of construction operations, including materials, specifications, safety, and quality management, with proven ability to enforce health & safety programs (OSHA, OHSA, or regional regulations).
Proficiency in project scheduling and time management using tools such as MS Project, Procore, and Primavera P6 to ensure deadlines are met.
Proven leadership in team management (teams of 10+), stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building to drive project success and secure repeat business.
Experience with public procurement processes, municipal permitting, and government reporting requirements preferred.
Proven experience in contract administration, including negotiation, compliance, and risk management.
Expert knowledge and experience with accounting principles and processes.
Demonstrated success in achieving project success metrics (safety, schedule, quality, profitability) through their project teams.
Understanding of local building codes, materials and construction standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
