Senior Estimator
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Estimator with experience in working on hard bid, design build, and construction management estimates.
The primary focus of this position is to provide accurate estimating and subcontractor costing from the concept stage through to the contract letting and planning stage. You will assist with pricing, budgeting, and proposal presentations while maintaining estimating records and ensuring quality standards. The Senior Estimator will report directly to the Lead Estimator.

Responsibilities:
Review and analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare bid estimates for projects ((e.g. industrial, institutional, multi-family)
Perform complete estimates, quantity take-off, pricing, and presentation of the estimate for management review
Build and complete conceptual budgets and design build estimates.
Develop preliminary construction schedules on Microsoft projects.
Supervise the solicitation of trades on bid invitations, pricing, addenda, and tendered bid closings.
Provide guidance and clear direction to the estimating coordinator, and other personnel, on their estimating related requirements.
Manage and coordinate work activities with other team members
Researches and analyzes cost data for review and presentation to management.
Develop detailed knowledge of market labour and equipment rates.
Will communicate effectively with other estimating staff, all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
Develop and maintain business relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to create a competitive advantage over the competition.
Occasional site visits may be required to assess project scope and conditions.
Requirements
A degree/diploma in Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
A minimum of 15+ years’ experience in construction estimating within institutional, multi family, and commercial projects.
Thorough understanding of preparing estimates and large budgets.
Proven ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams.
Excellent administrative techniques including exceptional organizational, communication and people management skills.
Strong computer skills are necessary, including an excellent knowledge of scheduling software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project as well as estimating software such as BlueBeam.
Adequate knowledge in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word and the ability to prepare professional proposals and presentations.
Knowledge of standard Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements and practices in the construction industry.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
