Senior Investment Analyst

Job Description

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Investment Analyst to join their Front Office Analytics team, reporting to the Director of Analytics.

As a Senior Investment Analyst, you will play a key part in strengthening the investment evaluation process by delivering well-structured financial models and clear, insightful analysis. You will gain exposure to the energy industry, working closely with commercial teams and senior leadership on complex energy transactions. Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain sophisticated financial models to assess investment opportunities and complex energy transactions.

  • Partner with senior management to design new investment modelling templates that reinforce consistency and best practices.

  • Apply a wide range of valuation methodologies, including DCF, IRR/NPV, scenario analysis, comparables, and sensitivity analysis.

  • Develop project-level financial statements, including capital expenditure forecasts, operating cash flows, working capital requirements, and debt-service schedules.

  • Prepare clear, compelling analyses and presentations to support informed investment decisions by senior leadership.

  • Leverage cloud-based analytics tools (Snowflake SQL, dbt, Python) to integrate and analyze large datasets within financial models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, economics, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, project finance, or a similar analytical environment.

  • Advanced Excel skills and expertise in building complex financial models.

  • Strong ability to interpret and analyze financial statements to evaluate investment opportunities and associated risks.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems using innovative approaches.

  • Strong communication capabilities, with a talent for translating complex analysis into clear, concise insights.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • Familiarity with complex transaction structures, deal financing, and/or M&A processes is a strong asset.

  • Experience with risk modelling, probabilistic analysis, or statistical methods is a strong asset.

  • Progressing toward a CFA (or similar designation) is a strong asset.

  • Exposure to SQL, Python, VBA, and/or data visualization tools such as Tableau, Sigma, or Power BI is a strong asset.

    The starting compensation package includes a base salary of $125K per year, a comprehensive suite of health benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and generous time off. The salary offered will take into consideration your education, skills, and the duration and quality of your applicable experience.
