Pre-Construction Coordinator
Job Description
A well-established general contractor specializing in commercial and industrial construction is seeking a Pre-Construction Coordinator to support their growing team. This role is ideal for someone with early career experience in pre-construction who is looking to build a long-term career in project management.
If you have experience with a Design-Builder, Developer, General Contractor, or Municipality and are looking to advance your career, this may be the opportunity you are looking for.
As a Pre-Construction Coordinator, you will play a key supporting role in planning and executing commercial and industrial developments. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle — from scoping and design to permitting and construction — while working closely with senior project managers, architects, engineers, and municipal officials.
Responsibilities:
Support pre-construction activities, including project scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and design coordination.
Assist in preparing and managing applications for rezoning, development, and building permits, engaging with municipal staff and other authorities as needed.
Help with the selection, coordination, and oversight of architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure deliverables meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
Track project progress against design and permitting milestones, proactively following up with stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, and communication logs for internal and external stakeholders.
Support tendering processes by coordinating bid documents, reviewing proposals, and assisting in trade partner selection.
Collaborate with senior project managers on risk identification and resolution of issues that arise during pre-construction and early construction phases.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, learning from experienced leaders and applying best practices in project delivery.
Other related duties as required to support the project team.
Requirements
2–3 years of experience as a Pre-Construction Coordinator (or similar role) in commercial or industrial projects; OR confidence in your ability to learn quickly and deliver results.
Familiarity with municipal processes and requirements related to rezoning, development, and building permits.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communicator who can work with different personalities and stakeholders while maintaining professionalism.
Tenacious, resilient, and motivated by overcoming challenges to achieve goals.
Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for results.
Proficiency with MS Office and project management software; exposure to scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) considered an asset.
A degree, diploma, or technical training in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Why Join This Team
Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-profile commercial and industrial projects.
Learn directly from senior leaders and experienced project managers.
Supportive, team-oriented environment with a focus on professional growth.
Competitive compensation and benefits package.
Salary range: $65,000 – $85,000.
