Senior Financial Reporting Specialist - Calgary
Job Description
Our client, a growing oil and gas company, is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Specialist to join their high-performing team. This role will support quarterly, annual, and consolidated financial reporting processes, along with compliance, internal controls, and budgeting activities. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented CPA with strong oil and gas industry experience and proficiency in IFRS and financial systems.
This position reports to the Vice President of Finance and Accounting and will collaborate closely with the Financial Accounting team and cross-functional departments. A strong understanding of oil and gas accounting, financial reporting regulations, and tax compliance is essential to success in this role.
Responsibilities:
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A in compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements
Prepare consolidated financial statements for the U.S. parent company and borrowing needs
Create internal monthly management reports highlighting key performance indicators
Assist with annual budget development and periodic forecasting
Research and maintain compliance with financial reporting standards and pronouncements
Manage Canadian and U.S. tax compliance obligations
Implement and monitor internal financial controls
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to support audit and compliance processes
Work cross-functionally to gather and analyze financial data
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
CPA designation required
Minimum 5+ years of financial reporting experience in the oil and gas sector
Advanced knowledge of IFRS and oil & gas accounting practices
Experience with Microsoft 365 and Qbyte FM
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proven leadership, project management, and time management skills
