Civil Engineer - Calgary, AB

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead multidisciplinary projects focused on delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions. This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills across a range of civil, geotechnical, and environmental initiatives. You’ll play a key role in shaping engineering and water management solutions while mentoring others and driving innovation within the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee Civil, Geotechnical, and Environmental engineering designs and studies

  • Manage front-end, preliminary, and detailed design projects, including stormwater systems, reservoirs, earthen dams, site grading, and underground piping

  • Supervise and authenticate civil designs, calculations, reports, and dam-safety studies

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop project strategies and strengthen client relationships

  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and collaboration

  • Support the preparation of cost estimates, schedules, and proposals, effectively communicating results to both technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering

  • 12+ years of consulting or industry experience with a focus on civil earthworks engineering and exposure to geotechnical analysis or reporting

  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA

  • Experience in the mining sector is considered an asset

  • Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada and hold a valid driver’s licence

  • Proven experience with civil earthworks designs, including reservoirs, earthen structures, dams, roadways, underground piping, and site grading

  • Strong background in stormwater and sanitary sewer design, surface water management, and modeling

  • Skilled in preparing comprehensive engineering design reports, technical notes, and construction execution plans

  • Experience with geotechnical design and analysis (slope stability software considered an asset)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of key industrial sectors such as mining, oil and gas, or related industries is an asset
