Located at their Calgary office, the Pipeline Hydraulic Engineer will report to the Supervisor, Pipeline Hydraulics. As part of a growing Pipeline Engineering team, this key role will provide expertise in fluid hydraulics related to the design, construction, and operation of pipelines and pump stations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain comprehensive hydraulic models for all pipeline systems.
Conduct and/or review steady-state and transient hydraulic analyses for pipelines and terminals, including incremental volume analysis and other specialized studies as required.
Manage the hydraulic study and transient analysis program, including the associated database.
Provide technical support to Commercial, Project Development, and Operations teams.
Collaborate with system support personnel involved in day-to-day operations and maintenance to verify data related to physical configuration, system operations, and controls.
Support Corporate Emergency Management and Crisis Management efforts as needed.
Respond to field, management, and technical inquiries in a timely manner.
Offer expertise on pipeline hydraulics and mechanical design to ensure alignment with internal standards across project initiatives.
Review and provide guidance on work completed by other engineers within the Pipeline Hydraulics group.
Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) processes and implementations.
Provide technical input to external consultants and review their findings and final reports.
Participate in an on-call rotation, providing occasional weekend engineering support for pipeline operations.
Requirements
8+ years of experience in the pipeline industry, with at least 5 years specifically focused on hydraulic modeling.
Professional Engineer registered with APEGA.
Engineering degree, preferably in chemical or mechanical.
Proficiency in Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) is mandatory, experience with other hydraulic software such as AFT fathom would be beneficial.
Proven senior-level technical expertise in hydraulic design and engineering within the oil & gas industry.
Strong working knowledge of applicable engineering principles, regulations, and industry standards.
Knowledgeable in current operating standards, codes, rules, and regulations that relate to pipeline operations.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
