Instrumentation Engineer
Job Description
We are hiring a Bilingual Instrumentation Engineer to join our client’s team in Montreal, Quebec. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of facilities by designing, selecting, and installing control systems. The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a strong understanding of process control, experience in chemical or related industries, and proficiency in control system design. A PE license and certifications such as Certified Automation Professional (CAP) are highly valued. Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required, as the role involves collaboration across diverse teams in a complex industrial environment.
Responsibilities:
Analyze process requirements and select appropriate instrumentation for accurate measurement and control.
Creating and interpreting P&IDs, which detail the instrumentation layout and control strategy for the process.
Work effectively as part of a team and coordinate with other disciplines involved
in plant design and construction.
Contribute to developing and managing project schedules for instrumentation
activities.
Requirements
A Professional Engineer (PE) license and certifications relevant to control systems.
Certified Automation Professional Certification - (CAP )
Bilingual in French and English
In-depth understanding of process control principles, including feedback loops, control
strategies, and instrumentation selection for various process parameters (pressure, temperature, flow, level).
Extensive knowledge of various instrumentation types (pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, flowmeters, level gauges, control valves) and their applications in chemical processing
Experience in designing and implementing control systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Understanding of instrument calibration procedures and maintenance practices for
ensuring accurate and reliable operation.
Proficiency in using CAE tools for instrument selection, loop diagrams, and control system design.
Excellent bilingual communication skills to collaborate effectively with chemical engineers, electrical engineers, and control system vendors.
