Job Description
We are hiring a Bilingual Civil Engineer to join our client’s team in Montreal, Quebec. This role is essential for ensuring the facility's structural integrity, safety, and compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering and experience working on large industrial projects. Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) and membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) are highly valued, along with prior experience in the chemical processing industry. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient development of a complex industrial facility.
Responsibilities:
Design and engineer buildings, support structures, and concrete structures required for the chemical process equipment.
Designing drainage systems to manage process water, stormwater runoff, and potential spills.
Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with a team of civil engineers, drafters, and surveyors.
Develop and manage project schedules for civil engineering activities.
Manage the civil engineering budget for a large-scale project
Requirements
Professional Engineer (PE) a PE member of the OIQ. (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec)
Excellent bilingual communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders (chemical engineers, project managers) and external contractors.
Bilingual in French and English.
Understanding of the specific civil engineering requirements for chemical processing facilities, including considerations for hazardous materials, fire codes, and blast resistance.
Expertise in site selection, grading, excavation, foundation design, and construction methods relevant to large-scale industrial facilities.
Experience working on large, complex engineering projects, preferably in the chemical processing industry. Able to interact with inside battery limits (ISBL) and outside battery limits (OSBL) interfaces.
Thorough understanding of building codes and industry standards applicable to chemical processing facilities.
Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA) related to civil engineering aspects of the project, including worker safety during construction and blast resistance requirements.
Proficiency in civil engineering design software like Civil 3D for site design, grading, and structure modelling.
