Payroll Analyst - Calgary, AB

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Payroll Analyst with strong experience in payroll software implementation. This role will initially focus on leading and supporting a major payroll system transition, ensuring accuracy and efficiency during the implementation phase. Once established, the role will transition into a broader payroll function, managing ongoing payroll operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the testing and implementation of an ERP transition on the payroll side.

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

  • Process new hire and termination packages.

  • Oversee payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, deductions, taxes, and garnishments.

  • Reconcile payroll accounts, prepare reports, and support month-end and year-end processes.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial/state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

  • Act as subject matter expert for payroll systems, policies, and processes.

  • Lead and/or support payroll system implementation projects, including data migration, configuration, testing, and training.

  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to optimize payroll operations.

  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and respond to employee inquiries.

  • Identify process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of progressive payroll administration experience.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing new payroll software (system selection, rollout, and post-implementation support).

  • Experience with D365 and/or NaviPayroll considered a strong asset.

  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong technical aptitude with HRIS/ERP systems.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational ability.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.

  • Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent designation preferred.
