Senior Project Manager – IT (Independent Contractor - 6 months)
Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager – IT & Business to lead complex technology initiatives within a large-scale program environment. This role will primarily support IT-related projects—including systems implementation, infrastructure, integrations, and digital initiatives—while also providing senior PM leadership across additional business workstreams as the program scope evolves.
The ideal candidate is a self-driven, strategic thinker with strong stakeholder management skills and a proven ability to operate in fast-paced, cross-functional, and regulated environments.
This is a 100% independent contractor role; applicants must be eligible to provide services as a self-employed contractor.
Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end delivery of IT projects, including system implementations, integrations, infrastructure upgrades, and application deployments.
Provide senior PM leadership for additional business projects supporting program delivery.
Develop and manage integrated project plans, schedules, dependencies, resourcing, and cost estimates aligned with PMP methodologies.
Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and issues; implement mitigation strategies and escalation protocols.
Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements, manage change impacts, and ensure alignment between technical and operational objectives.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including IT, vendors, business leads, and external partners.
Prepare and deliver executive-level status reporting, dashboards, and steering committee materials.
Ensure adherence to governance standards, SDLC processes, and security/compliance requirements.
Support testing cycles, cutover planning, and go-live readiness activities.
Maintain project documentation and ensure effective knowledge transfer and transition to operations.
Requirements
PMP certification (mandatory).
Minimum 5+ years of project management experience delivering large, complex IT initiatives.
Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
Experience managing system implementations, integrations, or infrastructure projects.
Proven experience managing schedules, budgets, risks, issues, and cross-functional dependencies.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
Highly self-driven with strong leadership capabilities.
Experience supporting enterprise transformation programs.
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
Experience collaborating with construction, operations, or production teams in integrated programs.
Aviation or aerospace industry experience is a strong asset.
Maintenance, Operations & Repair Experience is a strong asset.
