Gatehouse Attendant

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Gatehouse Attendant to join our client’s estate team. The successful candidate will possess a high level of attention to detail, accountability, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. This role requires flexible working hours and on-call assistance as needed. We are looking for a highly organized self-starter with outstanding people skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a polite and energetic demeanor. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential, along with a strong work ethic and a willingness to work weekends and evenings when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a first point of contact for all visitors to the Estates.

  • Driving family members in their vehicles when required, to and from office, appointments, and other engagements, as requested.

  • Cleaning and maintaining vehicles, including gassing and washing.

  • As this position lives on-site, the individual will be on-call and the first point of contact for after hours and weekend maintenance support and alarms for multiple properties.

  • Assisting with events and family functions, examples include setting-up, barbecuing, serving, and post-function clean-up.

  • Running errands as assigned by the Estate Manager and other designated staff members and family.

  • Assisting the Residential Coordinator with family travel preparation.

  • Assisting the greater Estate staff when required (examples include snow removal, vehicle maintenance, and/or housekeeping).

  • Providing backup to the Assistant Estate Manager, when required, which could include scheduling and coordinating with electricians, plumbers, and other contractors as necessary.

     

Requirements

  • Service oriented, polished, professional, energetic, courteous, and accommodating to all family, staff, guests, clients and outside service personnel.

  • A background in the hospitality or medical field would be considered an asset, with the ability to react quickly to all types of situations.

  • Adaptable and flexible and willing to be on-call.

  • Exceptional attention to detail is a must.

  • Possess a great attitude and strong communication skills both verbally and written.

  • First-aid certification (training is available).

  • Experience with property maintenance considered an asset.

  • Experience successfully working within a larger team is necessary.

  • Troubleshooting IT issues within the properties considered an asset.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.

  • Holding a valid passport considered an asset as some travel may be required.

  • Heavy lifting may be required (up to 50 – 70 pounds).

  • Successfully complete a criminal and credit background check as well hold a clean driver’s abstract.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
