Freight Coordinator

Job Description

Our client is seeking a full-time, dynamic Freight Coordinator to join their Transport team in High River, Alberta. As the daily point of contact for our client's customers, the Freight Coordinator will support operations by providing a consistent and highly organized experience. They will engage with each unique customer, understand their business, and collaborate with them to find the best solutions. With consistent engagement with customers, the Freight Coordinators will play a crucial role in driving growth for each client, significantly impacting the business's success. In addition to being a detailed technical expert, the ideal candidate must be hungry, highly organized, a strong communicator and have the ability to build strong relationships with their customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all of our clients.

  • Conduct weekly follow-ups with customers daily or weekly, depending on the agreement.

  • Find cost-efficient shipment solutions to meet our customer’s needs.

  • Manage damage claims with the customer and the carrier.

  • Provide timely and accurate information to all clients.

  • Responsible for providing effortless coordination of freight movement.

  • Actively track and trace the movement of customer freight.

  • Follow up with carriers to ensure shipment pick-up and delivery times.

  • Coordinate truck loads to ensure the highest utilization of company assets. If company trucks are not available, proceed to book other carriers.

  • Responsible for providing timely and accurate pricing information to existing customers and new carriers.

  • Provide spot quotes to customers.

  • Onboard new carriers.

  • Provide inside sales expertise to ensure we look after all our customer’s freight requirements.

  • Responsible for selecting carriers to ensure our customer’s needs are met or exceeded.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience within freight/logistics and customer service

  • Working knowledge & experience in quoting and pricing freight.

  • Working knowledge of weights and dimensions regulations, including trailer requirements for typical cargo dimensions.

  • Familiarity with Canada & US geography, and realistic travel times.

  • Demonstrate understanding of customs clearance workflows.

  • Basic understanding of hours-of-service regulations for both Canada and US.

  • Familiarity with competitive environment and other carriers that service our network of customers.

  • Detailed understanding of Carrier contracts and insurance.

  • Detailed understanding of customer reporting and service expectations.

  • Extremely proficient in the use of technology, systems, and organizational tools.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Detail-oriented with a  focus on providing accurate, thorough information.

  • Proactive in your approach with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment .
