Financial Controller - Temp to Perm
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our client’s team, a growing North American behavioural biometric security organization. This is a full-time, senior-level role reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and based at the organization’s head office in downtown Victoria, British Columbia.
Responsibilities:
Financial
Prepare weekly cash flow reporting to monitor liquidity and departmental spend.
Lead the preparation of consolidated monthly internal financial reporting packages, including comprehensive IFRS financial statements, supporting working papers, and detailed analysis.
Perform monthly financial analysis and report key performance indicators to management.
Own the year-end close process and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Prepare quarterly and annual IFRS consolidated financial statements, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), and other required public company filings.
Compile and present financial data for CEO and CFO presentations to senior management, the board of directors, and investors.
Oversee and manage the purchases, payments, and accounts payable cycle.
Oversee and manage sales invoicing and the accounts receivable cycle.
Manage all bank accounts, operating cash flows, and cash flow forecasts.
Review and oversee the monthly bank reconciliation process.
Oversee Human Resources financial processes, equity-based compensation administration, and payroll processing.
Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as requested by executive leadership.
Compliance
Ensure company-wide adherence to documented internal controls and financial processes; recommend and implement improvements where necessary.
Prepare and file all quarterly and annual tax returns and ensure ongoing tax and regulatory compliance.
Prepare financial analysis and reporting related to debt financings.
Prepare analysis, applications, and filings related to grants (e.g., IRAP), tax credits (e.g., SR&ED), and similar funding programs.
Assist in maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date data room.
Strategy
Lead the preparation and review of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
Support ad hoc financial analysis and due diligence for strategic initiatives, including product development, financings, and acquisitions.
Requirements
Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA; legacy CA, CGA, or CMA) with approximately five years of progressive accounting experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Experience preparing IFRS financial statements and supporting public company filings.
High proficiency with Black-Scholes and equity-based compensation modelling.
Experience working with cloud-based financial systems such as Xero, Wagepoint, Gusto, Recurly, and Plooto.
B2B SaaS experience is considered an asset.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and productivity tools.
