Manager of Financial Reporting and Compliance

Job Description

Our client is a growing property management company with a large multifamily portfolio in Edmonton, AB. They are currently seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting and Compliance to oversee their property accounting team and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting across the operating portfolio.

This leadership position is ideal for an experienced finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings a strong understanding of regulatory standards, including RECA compliance. The successful candidate will play a key role in team leadership, audit preparedness, and the ongoing development of internal controls and financial reporting systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee full financial reporting across the multifamily portfolio

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing property accounting team

  • Lead onboarding/training of accounting staff and enforce internal accounting standards

  • Review and approve monthly reporting packages and deliverables

  • Ensure compliance with RECA and serve as primary contact for RECA audits

  • Collaborate with owners and internal teams on custom reporting and financial clarification

  • Manage property onboarding/offboarding from an accounting perspective

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures in line with GAAP

  • Lead audit preparation and coordination with external auditors

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes

  • Drive continuous improvement and system enhancements for scalable reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

  • CPA designation (or in progress) strongly preferred

  • 5–7+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in a management or supervisory role

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, RECA, and multifamily financial operations

  • Proficiency with property management accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, or similar

  • Demonstrated audit leadership and regulatory compliance experience

  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
