Freight Coordinator
Job Description
Our Client a Growing logistics long haul company is looking for a new Freight Coordinator to join it’s growing team. This National Transportation company runs their business with a commitment to Customer Service Excellence and trust, that safe on time deliveries will always occur.
The Freight Coordinator is a member of our operations team and are primarily responsible for delivering a consistent, highly organized, effortless experience to our customers. They are the daily point of contact for our customers, so the people on this team need to be the transportation experts who understand the complex details of how to actually execute the movement of our customers cargo. On top of this, they are able to engage with each unique customer, understand their business, and work with them to achieve the best solution. This person is also in charge of execution – either by ensuring it’s in good hands with our asset-based dispatch team, or by subcontracting the work to other carriers to facilitate freight movement.
With regular outreach to our customers, the Freight Coordinators are the driver of our growth within each customer, so have a very important impact on the success of our business. Aside from being a detailed technical expert, they must be a hungry individual that is highly organized, communicates well, and builds strong relationships with their customers.
Responsibilities:
· Customer Service Responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all of our clients.
· Follow up with customers daily or weekly depending on the agreement
· Find cost efficient shipment solutions to meet our customers’ needs
· Manage damage claims with the customer and the carrier
· Provide timely and accurate information to all clients Coordination Responsible for providing effortless coordination of freight movement.
· Actively track, trace the movement of customer freight.
· Follow up with carriers to ensure shipment pick-up and delivery times
· Coordinate truck loads with company trucks to ensure highest utilization of company assets. If company trucks are not available, proceed to book other carriers.
· Sales- Responsible for providing timely and accurate information to existing customers and new carriers regarding pricing.
· Provide spot quotes to customers
· Onboard new carriers
· Provide inside sales expertise to ensure we look after all our customers’ freight requirements.
· Responsible for selecting carriers that will ensure our customer’s needs are met or exceeded.
· Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
· Working knowledge & experience in quoting and pricing freight.
· Working knowledge of weights and dimensions regulations, including trailer requirements for typical cargo dimensions.
· Familiarity with Canada & US geography, and realistic travel times.
· Demonstrate understanding of customs clearance workflows.
· Extremely proficient in use of technology, systems, organizational tools, and understanding of process that piece of software system is trying to facilitate.
· Basic understanding of hours-of-service regulations for both Canada and US.
· Familiarity with competitive environment and other carriers that service our network of customers.
· Detailed understanding of Carrier contracts and insurance.
· Detailed understanding of customer reporting and service expectations.
· Driven and Customer Service Focused. Needs to have a high sense of urgency with excellent communication skills.
This position is based in South Calgary just outside of City Limits. It is an onsite position M-F. You must be legally able to work in Canada to be considered.
