Procurement Specialist

Job Description

We are hiring a Bilingual Procurement Specialist to join our client’s team in Montreal, Quebec. You will have a strong track record of success in managing and executing major projects. Certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are highly regarded, along with experience in the chemical processing industry. A deep understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and materials used in industrial chemical operations is essential, enabling effective communication with engineers and ensuring that all procured items meet the required technical specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing, negotiation, supplier management, and risk mitigation strategies for global supply chains.

  • Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and awarding contracts for a variety of goods and services.

  • Crafting and evaluating technical bid packages, considering factors like technical compliance, quality assurance, and compatibility with existing infrastructure.

  • Negotiating to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules while managing contracts throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Develop and manage procurement budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and track project expenditures effectively.

  • Analyze bids, assess financial risks of suppliers, and identify potential cost overruns.

  • Planning, scheduling, and tracking of procurement activities.

  • Identify and solve procurement challenges, make sound decisions under pressure, and find innovative solutions

  • Analyzing procurement data, generating reports, and presenting findings to project leadership.

Requirements

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)

  • Experience in the chemical processing industry.

  •  Excellent communication skills in both official languages to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (engineers, project managers) and external vendors.

  • Bilingual in French and English.

  • Able to work with our teams in the EU and any engineering firms in North America and the EU.

  • Work independently and as part of a team, and they must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong understanding of project management principles for effective planning, scheduling, and tracking of procurement activities.

  • A solid understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and materials used in industrial chemical processing industry
