Payroll Specialist - Edmonton, AB
Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a small corporate payroll team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely payroll delivery and excellent service to employees. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and consistently delivers accurate payroll and related reporting.
Responsibilities:
Process accurate, timely payroll on a regular pay schedule for employees
Respond professionally to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Administer payroll-related transactions including new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and record changes.
Maintain confidential employee records and payroll documentation.
Assist with administration of employee benefits and retirement contributions.
Generate required payroll reports on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis.
Prepare payroll journal entries and support month-end reconciliations.
Process third-party remittances and statutory withholdings.
Support general administrative tasks and participate in special payroll projects as needed.
Requirements
Minimum 6 years’ payroll experience, ideally combined with HR/payroll education or certificate (PCP).
Demonstrated experience supporting payroll for multiple business entities or similar complexity.
Solid working knowledge of payroll legislation, remittance requirements and reporting practices.
Comfortable learning new payroll or HR systems quickly (specific platforms are not required for application).
