Senior Accountant
Job Description
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial statement working papers and statutory filing deliverables.
This position is ideal for an accountant with experience and a strong interest in change management, as the organization is set to begin an ERP transition in Fall 2025, evolving its accounting function.
Responsibilities:
Complete account reconciliations, including bank accounts, in a timely manner.
Investigate and resolve variances promptly.
Prepare month-end accruals along with relevant documentation.
Create month-end journal entries with supporting analysis and details.
Compile monthly working papers to support financial statement preparation.
Generate and review monthly costing reports, including analysis and necessary adjustments.
Support general ledger maintenance and oversight activities.
Contribute to the development and upkeep of process documentation for accounting tasks.
Ensure compliance with established internal controls and procedures.
Handle sales tax analysis, processing, filings, and remittances.
Prepare and assist with audit and tax-related deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster strong working relationships and support a productive, efficient environment.
Requirements
Minimum of 4 years' experience in an accounting or senior-level accounting role.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team of three or more.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems (such as Dynamics NAV, Great Plains, Microsoft F&O, NetSuite, or SAP).
Background in manufacturing and/or inventory accounting is essential.
Familiarity with construction, oil and gas, or site services-related industries is preferred.
Experience supporting ERP implementations or system transitions is an asset.
Strong proficiency in Excel is required.
