Cost Controller
Job Description
We are seeking a Bilingual Cost Controller to join our client’s team in Montreal, Quebec. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction cost management with experience in large, complex projects, preferably within the chemical process industries. Certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) are considered valuable assets. A solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and variance analysis is essential to effectively track project expenditures, identify cost overruns, and analyze financial data for cost-saving opportunities. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage costs efficiently while contributing to the financial success of the project.
Skills:
A good understanding of chemical processes and equipment used in a processing facility would easily be transferable, allowing the individual to better understand cost drivers and the impact of design changes on budget.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and variance analysis. This allows them to track project expenditures, identify cost overruns, and analyze financial data for cost-saving opportunities.
Ability to develop and manage project budgets, create financial forecasts, and monitor
project performance against the budget.
Understanding of contract terms and conditions, particularly those related to cost control clauses and change order management.
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with engineers, project director and managers, and procurement personnel.
Ability to identify and assess potential cost risks associated with project design, construction, and commissioning.
Ability to analyze cost variances, identify root causes, and develop solutions to control project costs.
Ability to understand project timelines and how they impact costs.
Familiarity with project management tools like Primavera or MS Project would be a plus.
Requirements
Holding certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Cost Engineer (CCE).
Strong background in construction cost management and experience in large, complex projects preferably in the chemical process industries.
Bilingual in French and English
