Professional CPA/JR Partner

Job Description

Catch Recruitment is seeking a professional CPA for our client in a small city in Southern Alberta.  The client is a medium sized accounting firm with a broad client base in a number of different sectors of the local economy including Agriculture, Oil and Gas services, Retail, Professional Services, Manufacturing, Rental and Investments.The position will require working very closely with all members of the firm in a collaborative and positive manner to help provide outstanding accounting, tax and consulting services for the firms current and future clients.  The successful candidate will be expected to work as a staff CPA for a short period of time to learn the firm’s processes and procedures as well as gain an understanding of the firm’s clients and their needs.  After a short period of time, and after demonstrating their ability and professionalism, the successful candidate will be expected to become an associate of the firm and, in time, a partner. 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing a client group with an estimated revenue range of $250,000-$500,000+ (private enterprise clients) after successful training period.

  • Display a professional attitude and appearance in the office and community.

  • Develop and maintain client relationships.

  • Facilitate client meetings (with training) as needed.

  • Prepare and in time review client files.  The engagements will mainly be on a compilation basis with a possibility of a few review and audit engagements.

  • Prepare tax plans and filings as necessary and provide any business consulting as required by clients.

  • Take over some management and office administration duties.

  • Make suggestions on firms procedures and processes to increase efficiencies and budget projects.

Requirements

  • CPA Designation – or very close to designation.

  • Has excellent inter-personal and communication skills.

  • A desire to have a career in public practice.

  • Experience completing (or reviewing) year end review and compilation engagement files and delivery process.

  • Experience completing the following: Personal Income Tax and Benefit Returns (T1s), Corporation Income Tax Returns (T2s), Trust Tax returns (T3s), Charity information returns (T3010s), Capital dividend elections (T2054s), Election on Disposition of Property by a Taxpayer to a Taxable Canadian Corporation (T2057s) and other tax filings as required by Canada Revenue Agency.

  • Proficient with accounting software (particularly Caseware, Profile, Sage 50, Quickbooks and Quickbooks on-line) and proficient with Microsoft office.

  • Be a self-starter, have a desire to learn and work well with others.
