Controller
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Controller to join our client’s team in the oil and gas industry. This is a 12-month, in-office position, perfect for a hands-on professional who thrives on taking charge of the accounting process and driving results. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in full-cycle accounting, month-end closing, and financial reporting, demonstrating the ability to manage these critical functions seamlessly. As the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations while also mentoring and overseeing one direct report.
Responsibilities:
Oversee aspects of the accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
Manage and mentor Payables Administrator and Jr. Accountant
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements monthly, including balance sheets and income statements.
Oversee month-end entries to ensure all financial statement items are accurately recorded.
Review and facilitate on-time vendor payments.
Contact clients to follow up on outstanding payments and coordinate communications to resolve any issues.
Collaborate with department heads to ensure accuracy in department financials through generating monthly reports for their review and confirmation, and oversee adjustments to financials if needed.
Ensure timely remittance of source deductions for payroll.
Develop monthly and quarterly financial review presentations for departments.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Ensure compliance with regulations and reporting requirements.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
Manage additional tasks as required to support the company's needs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification
preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Business Central D365 or similar) and advanced Excel skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing teams.
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
