Bookkeeper - Okotoks
Job Description
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Accounting Clerk to support their finance operations. This role will work closely with the Financial Controller and play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and receivable
Manage accounts receivable collections and follow-ups
Process invoices, payments, and employee expense reports accurately and on time
Reconcile credit card transactions and monitor company expenses
Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures
Support payroll processing through accurate record-keeping and reconciliations
Assist with tax filing preparation, audit support, and regulatory compliance
Generate financial reports for review by the Financial Controller
Handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity
Collaborate with the finance team to streamline and improve accounting processes
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related role
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and strong Excel skills
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals
High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Clear and professional communication skills
Comfortable working independently and in a team
Willingness to work onsite in a professional office setting
Preferred Assets:
Experience in a corporate or professional services environment
Knowledge of tax compliance and financial reporting
Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., CPB) is an asset
