Bookkeeper - Okotoks

Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Accounting Clerk to support their finance operations. This role will work closely with the Financial Controller and play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and receivable

  • Manage accounts receivable collections and follow-ups

  • Process invoices, payments, and employee expense reports accurately and on time

  • Reconcile credit card transactions and monitor company expenses

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures

  • Support payroll processing through accurate record-keeping and reconciliations

  • Assist with tax filing preparation, audit support, and regulatory compliance

  • Generate financial reports for review by the Financial Controller

  • Handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity

  • Collaborate with the finance team to streamline and improve accounting processes

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related role

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and strong Excel skills

  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Clear and professional communication skills

  • Comfortable working independently and in a team

  • Willingness to work onsite in a professional office setting

  1. Preferred Assets:

    • Experience in a corporate or professional services environment

    • Knowledge of tax compliance and financial reporting

    • Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., CPB) is an asset
